Is your toilet blocked?
If something blocks the system, you'll need to try to work the clog through the pipes. Start by flushing your toilet once and then use a plunger to create suction. Gently pump the plunger to attempt to dislodge anything stuck in the system. Remember, don't flush the toilet multiple times or you could flood the bathroom.
The toilet handle isn't flushing.
If the mechanism connection inside the tank becomes loose, the handle won't work properly. To check that the flapper is connected properly, lift the toilet cover and check that the chain is attached to the backside of the handle.
My outlets aren't working.
First, test various outlets to rule out a problem with your appliance. If you're having issues with a GCFI outlet, pushing the test button on the bottom will allow the reset button to pop back up. Hit this button to reset the circuit.
I have no power in my home.
If the entire property loses power, locate your home's breaker box. Reset the breaker to see if power is restored. If you're still having problems, determine whether you're the only home impacted on your street. Temporary outages may occur due to inclement weather, for example, often knocking out power for entire neighborhoods.
If all else fails, contact your utility company for assistance.
Most homes have a hot water heater that stores warm water in a tank. Check your tank and heater settings to verify that nothing is amiss. If your tank has a vacation setting, be sure your heater hasn't accidentally been placed in this mode.
You may also want to verify that the pilot light is lit.
If you're having problems with the temperature in your home, first check your HVAC thermostat to ensure everything is working properly. Reset the system to attempt to resolve the issue.
If you're dealing with an emergency, CALL 911 FOR IMMEDIATE HELP.
